The Civil Defense General Command at the Ministry of Interior launched the Progressive Patriotism Voluntary Team Initiative targeting the youth at the Civil Defense General Command in conjunction with the World Humanitarian Day 2019. The launching ceremony was held at the Civil Defense General Command’s headquarters in Ajman, and was attended by Major General Doctor Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Civil Defense General Commander-in-Chief, heads of departments, a number of officers, volunteers, and members of the Civil Defense Youth Council.

Al Marzouqui noted that the launch of the initiative reflects the importance of volunteering as the core of building civilized societies. He also stressed the Civil Defense General Command keenness to support volunteering, and activate innovative initiatives and programs to attract young people to participate in volunteering and humanitarian donorship throughout the country, through positive community participation with local authorities involved in voluntary initiatives and works. This aims to train and qualify civil defense staff to carry out voluntary activities, maximize human values and behaviors of civil defense members, those values that have been established by the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Moreover, Al Marzouqi explained that the voluntary team of Progressive Patriotism consists of distinguished elite of young males and females working in various disciplines of the civil defense. He confirmed that the UAE youth, thanks to the unlimited support of the UAE’s wise leadership, has obtained scientific skills and potentials to make achievements, excellence, and leadership in various fields.

For his part, Captain Humaid Al Ali, Chairman of the Civil Defense Youth Council stressed the council’s keenness to develop voluntary and humanitarian initiatives to support the goals and programs of the Federal Youth Foundation. He pointed out that the initiative of the Progressive Patriotism team is a result of the fruitful and effective work carried out by the Youth Council of Civil Defense. He stressed that the voluntary team will work in full swing to reach the desired results through cooperation and coordination with various local authorities involved in voluntary work to exchange and develop skills and benefit from the experience and knowledge in the areas of humanitarian and voluntary work.
