UAE Takes Part in “WePROTECT” Global Alliance International Advisory Board Meeting

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Interior attended the WePROETCT Global Alliance International Advisory Board meeting held in London, UK on Thursday.

The meeting has discussed the planning of the next WePROTECT Global Summit to be held at the end of 2017 as well as the new communication strategy.

Ernie Allen, chair of the #WePROTECT IAB praised the UAE organization of the second global summit in 2015, emphasizing its importance in providing a safe environment for the children online.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Interior’s delegation explored the UAE’s efforts for its role as a Chair of the Virtual Global Force (VGT) and a member of the WePROETCT Global Alliance, indicating its global commitment to provide the necessary enablers to protect children online.

The Ministry of Interior’s efforts through the Higher Committee of Child Protection and the Child Protection Center have also been discussed during the meeting. The delegation has also addressed the outcomes of the Abu Dhabi summit which succeeded in collecting 40 signatories to the statement of action by governments, 17 signatories to the statement of action by industry, and 16 signatories of statement of action on capacity building. The delegation has expressed hope that more parties will join in the future.

The delegation has lauded the global trust as the UAE Ministry of Interior, during the Abu Dhabi Summit 2015, was awarded two seats on the #WePROTECT International Advisory Board (IAB): as chair of the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) and as a permanent member of the #WePROTECT IAB, in recognition of its efforts in child protection.
