Sharjah Police Community Department joins Traffic and Patrols Department in reducing fatalities on Mulaiha road

The Community Police Department at Sharjah Police GHQ, in collocation with the Traffic and Patrols Department, started a number of initiatives as part of the awareness campaign recently launched by the Ministry of Interior themed, " The safer you are, the happier they are", in a bid to reduce road fatalities on five main roads in the UAE including Mulaiha road.
The drive illustrates the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to accelerate achieving of the national agenda goals aiming at promoting road safety through the government accelerators initiative.

As part of the initiative, awareness brochures and publications will be distributed to the drivers stopping over at the rest areas and petrol stations.

Deputy Director of traffic and patrols in Sharjah, Lt. Colonel Dr. Ahmed Al Na'our stressed that Sharjah police is working on implementing a number of initiatives with the aim of creating a safe accident-free traffic environment, through combining efforts and enhancing partnerships and communication.
He said that coordination has been made with the community police department to implement the consolidated awareness programs and plans and to take all measures to prevent accidents.
"The Media and Public Relations Department, Sharjah police supports the efforts of the campaign by intensifying the awareness messages through the various media outlets", he further added.
"We began our cooperation by reaching the drivers while stopping over at the rest areas along the Mulaiha road, and distributing barouches to raise their awareness about the dangers of traffic violations, such as over speeding, on the lives of road users", he indicated.
He urged all motorists and members of the public to abide by the information contained in the awareness messages, indicating that traffic safety is a joint responsibility and we should all cooperate to preserve the lives of road users.
The Sharjah Police GHQ, in collaboration with the strategic partners, has prepared a field study on evaluating and managing speed on the Sharjah roads. The Study recommended reducing speed limit on Mulaiha Road, from Al Baeda' Bridge to Sheikh Khalifa exit, from 120 Km/h to 100 Km/h, in a bid to preserve the safety of the road users and minimize fatal traffic accidents. The road is currently under maintenance and development by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
The government accelerators constitute a future work mechanism that involves joint work teams of government officials, private and academic sectors. They concentrate on four key sectors and areas including, the national indicators, polices, programs and initiatives and government services
The accelerators teams will work in one place and under one umbrella to raise the pace of achieving the national agenda and expedite the implementation of the strategic government projects in short periods.
