Saif bin Zayed appointed Honorary President of Arab Federation of e-Commerce

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior on Tuesday received the Honorary Presidency of the Arab Federationof e-Commerce from His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed Al-Rabee, the Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, on the sidelines of the Digital Economy Conference "Seamless e-Commerce ".
Sheikh Saif was selected for the position due to his role in supporting and implementing the best e-practices in the UAE and in recognition of the UAE's leading role in e-commerce and its advanced position regionally and globally in this field. 
The members of the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States unanimously agreed on the selection of HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Honorary President of the Arab Union for Electronic Commerce in recognition of his patronage and leadership for the strategic development projects at the Ministry of Interior Electronic, including the "Iris scan" project, which has reduced the return of those who were deported from the country, and the electronic gates at the various airports and ports of the state whichhave facilitated and accelerated the movement of entry and exit of passengers, as well as many other pioneering projects and initiatives that have contributed to the promotion of the UAE's leadership and the advancement in terms of the international competitiveness indicators.
The second day of the Digital Economy Conference was held under the patronage of His Highness the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. The conference was organized by the Council of Arab Economic Unity at the League of Arab States in cooperation with Terrappin Company and hosted by theDubai International Convention Centre.
The Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Federation, Ambassador Mohammed Al-Rabie, said in a speech that the organization of this global economic event undoubtedly reflects the keenness of the UAE leadership and people to serve the people of the Arab world in the present and future. He thanked His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his patronage of the conference.
About 150 speakers of experts participated in the conference which has addressed three main themes: e-commerce, electronic payments and retail. The exhibition was attended by more than 350 government institutions and international companies to showcase products and smart solutions in the field of electronic commerce and its various applications.
On the sidelines of the conference, the strategic partners of the Arab Federation for e-commerce and the main speakers of the conference were honored. 
The conference is the largest event specialized in e-commerce and its various applications in the Arab region. It aims to promote and support the e-commerce markets in the Arab world in a way that helps the Arab economy keep pace with the contemporary economy and the global changes, especially with regard to the digital economy. It also aims to increase the volume of E-commerce between the Arab countries to serve the development objectives of the public and private sector and individuals in the Arab region, thus ensuring the continuity of growth rates, with special emphasis on supporting small, medium and micro enterprises.
