RAK Civil Defense conducts strategic drill

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Civil Defense teams have successfully conducted a strategic drill in the Khuzam area, Ras Al Khaimah to enhance the readiness of their personnel and ensure that they remain fully prepared to deal with any emergency.
The exercise dubbed "Union" was carried out with the participation of the Ras Al Khaimah Police GHQ, Ministry of Education, Emirates Transport, the Electricity and Water Authority, the Ras Al Khaimah Medical District, the and Volunteer Program, the Coordination, Response, Emergency and Crisis Office and a number of police teams.
Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of Civil Defense at Ras Al Khaimah, said that the event is part of the strategy of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, which stems from the Ministry of Interior's strategy to preserve the security of the community and protect lives and property.
He pointed out that the exercise aims to measure the functionality of the public security and safety equipment in the buildings and to ensure their effectiveness and readiness. It is also intended to check the technical details of rescue operations in case of fire near schools and populated areas, and to adopt the best ways to deal with these risks, in addition to enhance the readiness of rescue agencies in the departments involved, so that they can deal with emergencies and similar crises, thus ensuring the safety of all and minimize any potential human and material losses.
The drill began according to a pre-planned scenario. The operation room received a tip off reporting a fire caused by a traffic accident between two vehicles one of which was carrying gas cylinders. The accident occurred near two schools. The vehicles of the concerned police, civil defense and supporting bodies rushed to the scene and controlled the situation in a record time.
Directors of the concerned departments and police stations have participated in the drill.
