MoI Takes Part in the Press Conference to Announce the Launch of ADIHEX

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) took part in the press conference to announce the launch of the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX). The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club, and is organized by the Higher Organizing Committee of ADIHEX scheduled during 27-31 August at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).
During the press conference, Brigadier Dr. Humaid Al Muhairi, Director of Arms and Explosives Directorate at the Ministry of Interior and member of ADIHEX Higher Organizing Committee shed light on the required terms, conditions and rules governing citizens and visitors possession of weapons in the UAE. He tackled the necessary standards for the work of arms trading companies in cooperation with the competent authorities.
The Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ have developed e-programs for licensing the acquisition of firearms, so as to accelerate the procedures of obtaining licenses, Brigadier Dr. Humaid Al Muhairi said. He also noted that coordination was also carried out with the licensing authorities in the GCC countries to facilitate the procedures for the purchase of weapons from the exhibition as well as with the Ministry of Defense in terms of issuing the end-user certificate for non-citizen ADIHEX visitors in case they purchased weapons from the exhibition.
Moreover, he pointed out that in accordance with the directives of the Higher Leadership, citizens will be allowed to acquire three pieces of firearms of nine-millimeter pistol, air rifles and shotguns of all kinds. He mentioned that the reduction of the legal age to obtain weapon licenses to 21 years has been approved.
At the end of his remarks, he wished the ADIHEX Higher Organizing Committee success and luck in highlighting the civilized role of the UAE.
