Saif bin Zayed briefed on 2017 edition of UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior was briefed recently at his office about the 2017 edition of UAE fire and Life Safety Code of Practice. The new edition was fully updated compared to the 2011 edition. 
The new manual has witnessed a lot of changes and developments based on the international practices, said General Commander of Civil Defense at the ministry of interior, Major General Jassim Al Marzouqui.
Matching with the most modern urban developments, both locally and internationally, the new code of practice is cost effective and facilitates access to the safety instructions from the consulting firms, added Al Marzouqui. 
The old edition of the manual included 19 chapters, 269 illustrations, and 116 tables, in 707 pages. The new one included 20 chapters, 784 illustrations, 256 tables all in 1384 pages both in Arabic and English. The design, contents and 3D drawings have been updated as well, indicated Al Marzouqui. 
The new manual has focused on six main topics, namely, the economic impact, international competitiveness, innovation and development, corporate partnership, future anticipation, and the best local and international practices, indicated director general of Dubai Civil Defense, Major General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matroushi. 
The updated chapters included the chapters on fires, cladding of buildings, alarm systems at homes, marina safety instructions, environmental management, sustainability and renewed energy, use of inflammable liquids, access of civil defense vehicles, among others, noted Al Matroushi. 
Present at the meeting were Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrerbani Al Nuaimi, secretary general of the Office of HH Deputy Prime minister and Minister of Interior, Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, director general of Fire and Protection Affairs at the General Command of Civil Defense, ministry of interior and a number of concerned police officers.
