Major General Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander of the Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, headed the UAE delegation to the 50th session of the Executive Council of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) currently held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The agenda of the session discusses a number of issues related to enhancing international cooperation among the member states at times of crisis and disasters. The session also emphasizes the need for implementing joint training programs in the field of civil defense, reviewing the experiences of the Member States to develop prevention and safety systems and equipment and share experiences in rescue and firefighting, and enhance the skills of civil defense workers.
The delegation presented a paper addressing the UAE's vision on all the topics covered by the agenda, especially the mechanisms for cooperation and support in the face of risks and disasters as well as the implementation of joint training programs.
During the course, Kubatbek Boronov, from Kyrgyzstan, was elected Chairman of the (ICDO).Executive Council.
