Major General Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqui, Commander of the Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, reviewed the readiness of the civil defense departments in Sharjah and Ajman in terms of quick response to emergency situations. 

He stressed the need to strengthen prevention and spread culture of safety to reduce fire accidents, especially during the summer.

Al Marzouqui inspected the Hazardous Materials Unit in Ajman to ensure readiness of its equipment. He called for achieving a balance between the available capabilities in each station and the risks in the area of its jurisdiction and for the setting of operational plans to address them. 

He stressed the importance of the field work for the stations' officers, conducting of field surveys and carrying out daily inspections of buildings and facilities to ensure their compliance with safety requirements, thus achieving the best practices in the response, evacuation, firefighting and rescue operations.

The General Commander of the Civil Defense stressed the importance of raising and improving the level of prevention and safety upon applying prevention instructions at the building. He also highlighted the need for identifying the dangers to which firefighters may be exposed during the course of fighting fires , as well as the necessity to warn occupants against the dangers surrounding them, and provide them with the information they need and the procedures to be followed in emergency situations.

Al Marzouqui was accompanied during the tour by Colonel Hamad Saeed Al Riyami, Director of Fire Department at the General Command of Civil Defense who is also Chairman of Committee for the Stations' Evaluation and Development.
