His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Thursday was briefed about the e-registration and e-gate services offered at airports in the UAE by the Ministry of Interior to ensure speedy travel procedures in less than 10 seconds.
This came during a meeting with Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, at Al Qasimia University, where the duo discussed issues of mutual concern and ways of improving services and the life of citizens and residents of the UAE.
E-registration only needs to be done once allowing all individuals to use the smart service for as long as their passports are valid.
Iris scans and facial recognition are used at the biometric-friendly e-gates to identify passengers and process travel procedures.
The meeting was attended by Major General Dr Nasser Al Raisi inspector general at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Saif Al Zarri Commander-in-chief of Sharjah police, HE Mohammed Obeid Al Za'abi, Head of Protocol Department and Dr Rashad Salim, Vice Chancellor of Al Qasimia University.
