Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, on Sundayhonored at the Ministry's headquarters and in the presence of Chief Thomas Galati of the NYPD Intelligence Bureau, 11 members of the Civil Defense, including three officers: Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi General of Civil Defense in Sharjah and Lieutenant Colonel Sultan Saeed Al Shehhi, Acting Director of the Department of Civil Defense in the Eastern Province and First Lieutenant Rashid Ibrahim bin Ahmed Al Naqbi, Civil Defense Station Officer in Khorfakkan, in recognition of their efforts to rescue a 17-year old Emirati girl from a fire that broke out at her family's house in the Lulayyah area in Khor Fakkan, Sharjah, last Thursday.
Director General of Sharjah Civil Defense noted that the recognition should motivate the group to continue to make efforts and sacrifices to serve their country in all circumstances.
The firefighters rushed to the girl's house and broke open the door to find her unconscious due to smoke inhalation. They offered first aid to her at the site before transporting her to the nearest hospital, along with two other women who were shocked by the accident.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Saif Al Sha'far, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Major General Salim Mubarak Al Shamesi, Director General of Finance and Services at the Ministry of Interior; Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amimi, Director General of the Federal Criminal Police and a number of officers.
