Half a million students in public and private schools nationwide received prevention and safety training as part of the operational plans of the Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar) in the 2015-2016 academic year.
Students learned about fires, types, causes and prevention methods. They were also trained on the proper use of manual fire extinguishers and on the actions to be taken when hearing a fire alarm, such as evacuation methods and reporting of accidents.
Major General Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqui, Commander General of Civil Defense at the Ministry of Interior, said that special programs have been prepared, including campaigns to raise awareness among the community segments to ensure the highest safety and protection standards are implemented at the sites.
He pointed out that Khalifa Student Empowerment Program (Aqdar) was one of these programs which aims to create positive attitudes among students to help them adhere to prevention and safety rules at home, school and the on road, to develop and strengthen their capabilities to act property during emergency situations, and to create a generation capable of taking responsibility for protecting the national gains.
He referred to the civil defense's role in maintaining the safety of both citizens and residents, through spreading the culture of safety and prevention, utilizing all available means to ensure that awareness and guidance messages are delivered to everyone in the society.
