Religious Leaders from Israel and the UAE Unite in an Interfaith Prayer to mark the International Day of Tolerance

Today the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Interior of the State of Israel have announced a planned Interfaith Prayer event to mark the International Day for Tolerance on Monday 16th November.

The International Day for Tolerance is more important than ever this year, in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which has had a significant impact on the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of communities around the world. Globally, more than one million people have lost their lives as a result of this virus, leading to significant emotional and financial impact on their families and loved ones. Millions of people have lost their jobs and are facing hunger and homelessness. During this time, frontline workers bravely carried out their duties and put themselves in the face of danger on a daily basis to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their communities.

The event is meant to be an inspiration for people of all faiths around the world. It will shine a light on a number of world faiths and highlight the important role that faith plays, particularly in these testing times. The faiths being represented include: Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Islam, Baha’i and Druze. This event will be used to reflect and give thanks to frontline workers for their efforts.
