MOI organizes workshops for staff on blockchain technology
In cooperation with the ICDL Foundation in Dubai, the Ministry of the Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Relations and Protocols, organized 3-day workshops on the (Blockchain) program via video-conference technology. The workshops aim to introduce the Ministry’s staff to the basic concepts of the blockchain technology, its components, how it works, and the opportunities for its application in government services, security and police sectors.
Dr. Hassan Ahmed Al Malki from ICDL Dubai presented a brief overview of the program and its objectives, in which he indicated that the blockchain technology is one of the advanced methods in documenting and organizing digital data and exchange of security.
Lectures delivered at the workshops dealt with the basic concepts of blockchain, its benefits for government work, its basic components and how it works, the opportunities to tap into the blockchain applications in government services, and the role of this technology as a key factor in helping smart police. The workshops also tackled the way the blockchain technology can be deployed in the security and police sectors and its role in combating cryptocurrency financial crimes, including money laundering, financing of terrorism and fraudulent transactions.
