MoI Completes Development of Smart Applications Infrastructure

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has completed its project to enhance the Smart Applications and E-Services Infrastructure, with the establishment of a cutting-edge fully equipped data center that meets best international advanced standards. This achievement is in response to the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The MoI Data Center will be the cornerstone of E-Services at the ministry, and will contribute significantly to support the daily operational process for the provided, and to introduce appropriate solutions and improvement opportunities in order to complete the task with efficiency and excellence.

Lt. Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the MoI’s Smart Government Program, noted that the MoI conducts periodic assessments of the operational efficiency of the E-Services, in accordance with the smart government transformation standards. It also sees to the implementation of elaborate plans to develop and improve services by adopting the best international standards.

 Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari reiterated the ministry’s commitment to acquaint customers with the new advanced service projects that will help save time and effort. The MoI adopted a comprehensive approach in all applicable language to promote the E-Services via mass media and social media channels. This aims to facilitate access to the services to the widest range of customers in a smart and streamlined way; and has made sure to establish performance indicators to measure services performance according to governmental standards and assess performance of the different service provision channels, he continued.

Adding further, he said: Via its various departments and authorities, the Ministry of Interior , has achieved an important milestone in developing E-Services and transforming strategic plans into executive annual plans.  This aims to provide smart services to customers 24/7 via the various channels, including its website www.moi.gov.ae  and smart phone application UAE-MOI.

Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari also noted that the diligent efforts exerted by the ministry fall within the framework of the Smart Government initiative. The initiative aims to raise awareness amongst government agencies on the need to avail of smartphone services, and implement the best technologies in order to enhance service delivery to the highest levels.

He called upon the public to submit their suggestions and ideas that help developing the services by calling 8005000 or by emailing on smart@moi.gov.ae. He said that the suggestions shall be studied by specialized teams at the ministry and included in the development process for current or future services.

For his part, Lt. Colonel Yaqoob Yousef Al Ahmad, Chief of the Operations Section at the ICT Department, stressed the MoI’s commitment to keep pace with the latest developments in order to provide modern and advanced services. This embodies the directives of the higher leadership on the need to achieve smart transformation in order to realize customers’ satisfaction for the provided services.

He said: The Ministry of Interior attaches significant importance to its  customers, UAE citizens and residents alike. To this end, it spared no effort in utilizing modern technologies, while maintaining the best quality and reliability standards, and implemented the best international practices across all stages of the project to attain this goal.

He also noted that the Data Center at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarter/Ministry of Interior was certified for meeting all requirements of T VIT Level 4, from the Certification Body of T V Information Technology GmbH (T ViT) for Trusted Site Infrastructure (TSI).   After successfully passing the strict TSI criteria, the center became the first Data Center in the MENA region to meet all requirements of TUViT TSI, Level 4, becoming the 7th Level 4 data center worldwide to receive the certification, he concluded.

For his part, First Lieutenant Yousef Sultan bin Houwail Al Nahdi, Team member of MoI’s Smart Government Program, noted that the MoI is constantly working to develop smart applications’ infrastructure according to the best standards. He noted: This would contribute to enhance the ministry’s E-Systems readiness; assess the quality and accuracy of the information on the documented service; and further upgrade the MoI’s services’ portfolio.
