4th Meeting of the Task Force on Combating Terrorism in MENA, Southwest Asia and the Pacific regions Kicks Off in Abu Dhabi

The Task Force on Combating Terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Southwest Asia and the Pacific regions commenced its fourth meeting on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, is organized by the Standing Committee on Operational Cooperation on Internal Security, in cooperation with the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). The meeting brings together participants representing several countries from the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and Southwest Asia and the Pacific regions.

Al Shafar delivered the opening speech, during which he pointed out that the participation of this number of countries in this distinguished meeting indicates the importance of It takes to confront the phenomenon of terrorism, which constitutes a threat to the security and stability of all countries of the world.

He stressed that the United Arab Emirates attaches importance to combating terrorism in all its forms in order to ensure the continuation of the blessing of security and safety, which is enjoyed by citizens and residents on the territory of the state.

He said that the UAE has ratified many international and regional treaties and agreements related to combating terrorism, including the United Nations conventions, the Arab Convention for Combating Terrorism and the Organization of the Islamic Conference counter-terrorism treaty, and other treaties and agreements in this field, pointing out that the UAE supports all initiatives aimed at Establishing a comprehensive international convention to combat terrorism.
He added: Facing terrorism and its tools requires exceptional efforts at the regional and international levels to fight all its forms, dry its sources and sources of financing, and repel all attempts to spread it, pointing out that the threats of terrorism have increased remarkably in the last decade as terrorist operations have taken place in ways that are very accurate and sophisticated.
