In a meeting it has recently held in Abu Dhabi with representatives of the consumer protection department and cars dealers committee, the General Directorate for Traffic Coordination at the ministry of interior discussed the mechanism of notifying owners of recalled vehicles who failed to contact their dealers to get the manufacturing or technical defects fixed.
"Having carefully studied the best international practices in this field, it was agreed that the Ministry of Interior should send SMSs, via the federal traffic and licensing system, to the owners of recalled car notifying them to visit their dealers to get these defects fixed", said Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior.
He urged the owners of these cars to contact their dealers as this will ensure the safety of road users and reduce traffic accidents.
