MOI Obtains Best Arab, Regional and International Cooperation Against Drugs Award for 4th Time

The Ministry of Interior, was awarded the Best Operational Field Intelligence Cooperation Award on the Arab, regional and international level for the 4th time. The award, granted by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, recognizes the UAE’s efforts in the fight against drugs and for uncovering drug trafficking networks.

The MOI's winning of this prestigious Arab award is a result of the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior in the fruitful cooperation with the various control agencies at the international, regional and Arab levels, which contributes to the control of many drug issues and strengthen efforts to combat them at all levels.

The award was received by Brigadier Saeed Abdullah bin Tuwair Al Suwaidi, Director General of Federal Drug Control at the Ministry of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the UAE Anti-Narcotics Council, at the 33rd Arab Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Agencies from HE Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council. Commenting on the win, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai and Chairman of the UAE Federal Drug Control Council, said that the fourth victory is the culmination of a busy career of the Ministry of Interior's professional work under the guidance of the police leadership and an appreciation of the outstanding role it plays in the field of coordination. Cooperation between the regional and international police agencies and the strengthening of their partnerships that contribute to the fight against crime, especially drug cases, is a scourge that poses a global threat.

He said that we continue to work according to plans and methodology to achieve the strategic goals to make the UAE the safest spot on the global level, and continue to strengthen our relations and means to address crimes of all kinds to reach the desired goal through a comprehensive security strategy that enjoys the support and attention of the wise leadership. The leadership believes that stability and security are the most important pillars of any development process in any country.

Brigadier Al Suwaidi stressed that the UAE's winning of this award for the fourth time is a confirmation of the professionalism and professionalism enjoyed by the concerned authorities, discipline and the strategy of deliberate cooperation pursued by the Ministry of Interior with its international and Arab counterparts in order to achieve common goals in eliminating this scourge and fighting it by all means.

He pointed to the ministry's keenness on the guidance of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior to strengthen relations with regional and international partners, and to combat the sources of these evils and gangs of drug trafficking and access to their locations and sources wherever they exist or posed a threat to the humanitarian community. Drug smuggling and promotion is a transnational challenge and crime, and cooperation between them must be addressed to address its devastating risks.

A delegation from the United Arab Emirates participated in the 33rd Arab Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Agencies held in Tunis, with the participation of representatives of the Ministries of Interior in the Arab States, the League of Arab States, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), the European Agency for Border Guards and the Guard. Coasts, GCC Criminal Information Center for Drug Control, Hemaya International Training Center, and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences.

The UAE delegation was headed by Brigadier General Saeed Abdullah bin Tuwair Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Federal Drug Control Department at the Ministry of Interior.

The conference discussed a number of important issues including: international developments in the field of drugs, production centers, consumption patterns, smuggling methods, methods of control and response, and the extent of its impact on the Arab region, and new drugs such as "Falaka" and its impact on the consumer.

The conference also reviewed the experiences of a number of Member States and their national plans in the field of combating narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and the results of the meetings of the three procedural sub-working groups for combating drugs.
