Coinciding with Zayed Humanitarian Day Medical masks made by inmates of federal punitive and correctional institutions are handed out to workers

Coinciding with Zayed Humanitarian Day, the Ministry of Interior’s punitive and correctional institutions handed out to workers medical masks made by the inmates as the Ministry’s recent campaign. Masks were also distributed to a number of institutions operating in the medical domains in a bid to support the efforts made to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and as part of the groundbreaking initiative rolled out upon the directives of H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Specialized teams handed out to workers in labor districts 30 thousand masks produced since the rollout of the initiative. It also comes as part of the qualification programs pursued by the Ministry of Interior, aiming to rehabilitate and integrate the inmates within the local community and develop their capabilities to become productive and proper persons in the community.

The inmates have positively, patriotically and enthusiastically took part in the initiative and produced masks and other medical supplies according to the highest international standards, manufacturing specifications and medical instructions of the Ministry of Health. Production was supervised by technical and medical specialists, taking into account full compliance with medical manufacturing instructions, prevention measures and preventive checkups, as well as special incentives and rewards for all participants.

Manufacturing efforts are still ongoing according to a methodological plan under the initiative as inmates are showing capability in participating efficiently and actively in this national duty. Through their hard work, the inmates enhance the efforts aimed at protecting the community and strengthening prevention and protection measures. Taking part in this initiative also gives the inmates an opportunity to hone their manufacturing skills, and this in turn eases their social reintegration given the professional and practical experience they gain from their participation in such development projects which offer them moral, financial and societal benefits.
